Ross Grantham, Partner at Brookhaven Capital Partners, is responsible for sourcing, due diligence, and operation of the company’s railroad, terminal, and port infrastructure investment opportunities.
Most recently, Mr. Grantham was Chief Operating Officer of Pioneer Lines, Inc. which was the fourth largest shortline railroad holding company in the United States. Mr. Grantham was instrumental in the take-private transaction in 2019 by BRX Transportation, LLC . As COO of Pioneer, Mr. Grantham oversaw all operating departments of the company and was a critical part of driving the safety incident rate from 11 at the time of acquisition to ZERO. Mr. Grantham was awarded the 2022 Safety Professional of the Year by the ASLRRA.
Mr. Grantham began his career 20 years ago as a frontline railroad manager for the Canadian National Railway. He subsequently managed multiple shortline railroads and terminals for some of the largest owners and operators in the industry, including OmniTRAX, Genesee & Wyoming, and Harbor Rail Services. Mr. Grantham has successfully partnered with executives, investors, and industry to create value in rail-related operations, including start-ups, turnarounds, and significant industrial developments.
Mr. Grantham has a proven track record of delivering safe, reliable, and profitable results at operations under his management. He has consistently reduced OR (operating ratio) by double digits, developing effective operating plans, reducing costs through the strategic management of safety, transportation, mechanical, and infrastructure departments, and executing value-add and industrial development initiatives. His commitment to service, problem-solving, and execution has earned him long-term relationships within the railroad industry and with his customers, including such notable industries as Vestas, Siemens, BP, ADM, Unimin, Arcelor-Mital, Anheuser Busch, Miller/Coors, and Constellation Brands, Procter & Gamble, to name a few.
Mr. Grantham holds locomotive engineer certifications and conductor certifications. Additionally, Mr. Grantham has been an active partner of the ASLRRA (American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association), AAR (American Association of Railroads), and AARS (American Association of Railroad Superintendents) throughout his career.
